In Limbo

I feel I owe an explanation for my recent inactivity. Anyone who has followed me for a while may recall that I moved my studio to my fathers house towards the end of last year so I could be on hand to offer him more support. Since Christmas I have found myself spending more time doing things for my dad as his health deteriorated. Then, nearly a fortnight ago, I found him on the floor one morning, his bed not slept in. Since then he has been in hospital where I have been visiting him daily. He is extremely confused and some days he barely knows me. I am feeling the strain and can't get motivated to paint at the moment. Be in no doubt, I will pick up my brushes as soon as things settle down a bit.

On a lighter note, my painting of the Nottingham Canal was commended at the recent Kathleen Marchant awards in Nottingham - and the painting sold!

Quick sketch



Just testing an idea to see how it works. I did this today - very rough and ready (10 minutes tops) There was snow on the ground and the sky was quite heavy. The thing that interested me was the rythym set up by the glimpses of the snow though the hedge contrasting with the otherwise static horizontal bands. I think it might work as a big picture so I'm going to have a stab at a 48 x36. That should keep me busy for a while. I'm hoping to post progress shots.
