Holbrook Awards -First Prize

I am absolutely over the moon to announce that the dragon boat painting, which I eventually called" Sparkling Light - Nottingham Riverside Festival", was awarded the Holbrook Trust first prize at the Nottingham Society of Artists Autumn Exhibition.

Congratulations! V well deserved, I followed the progress of the painting and it looked great. I recently started a 40x48 also and never painted on that scale before - challenging, but i like the freedom it gives you..

Cheers David, much appreciated. Your comments about large paintings are spot on. They give you more freedom with things like gesture and brushwork but introduce their own problems such as having to avoid getting bogged down with extra details in an attempt to "fill the space".
