Nottingham Canal almost there


It's good to get back painting again after weeks of working on the studio. Since I last posted the picture I haved applied a glaze of Ultramarine to all but the sunlit areas which I have restated with lighter, warmer greens. A lone mallard has been indicated in the canal to provide a focal point. I will now put this picture to one side for a few days and then look at it afresh to see if anything jumps out at me - if it doesn't I may call it a day

Hi Keith,
It's been a while since I dropped in. (Oct 9) I've been operating on dial up because I'm having trouble with DSL. It takes at least five times longer to do anything, so I've not been surfing lately.

A lot has happen with you. Congratulations on your first award! What a boost that must be.

The current painting has turned out wonderful. The darker foreground in the water certainly did the job and love the little waves and the mallard. I don't know what more you could do, but you know best.

You are such a good son to be by your dad. The studio looks very homey and I'm sure you'll produce some masterpieces here.

Thanks for your kind comments Marilyn,

It's been a couple of days now and having looked at it again, I think the picture is finished.

I've just picked up some watercolour paints and I have been practising with those for a couple of days. I havent used watercolour for many years and I'm finding it quite a challenge - you can expect to see some dodgy looking watercolours appearing on here within the next couple of weeks!
